Kuntala Waterfalls


Kuntaala Waterfall is the highest waterfall in the Andhra Pradesh state with a height of 45 meters. It is the big tourist attraction in the adilabad dist. About 32Km from the district centre and 12Km from the village NerediKonda nestled in dense forests is The Kuntaala Waterfall. It is a natural attraction spot in ADB. 

It is a good holiday vacation spot to see in tourism.According to the popular and prevalent local belief Kuntaala Waterfall got its name after Shakuntala, the beloved wife of King Dushyanth; the pair fell in love with each other and were mesmerized by the scenic beauty of the surroundings.

Thus giving a feast of ancient and ethnic culture of the tribals amalgamated with Mother Nature; to the eyes of the beholder. Among these Kuntaala and Pochera waterfalls are prominent.




River Kanda flowing through the dense forests; at this point comes gushing and falls from a height of 45metres.One has to experience the sight of water splashing down with such a force that water below turn into whirls.

The air around will be filled with mist of the splashing waters. The beauty of the splashing waters and music of the gushing waters is sure to make the visitors to heart touch.


The beauty of the waterfall is beyond words in monsoons when River Kanda comes with a gush splashing the hillock with heavy rainwater. The air is covered with a white cloud of mist tickling you. The water below is covered with gentle foam as pure as love. It is look like as the Nayagara water falls.

Lord Someshwara Swami is beside of Kuntaala waterfalls.  Who came here to see waterfalls they also visit the this temple. “Maha ShivaRathri” is big fest in this temple. On this day temple is beautifully decorated peoples are came from different places of the district.

Way to Kuntala Waterfalls:

The road map to kuntala is 250 kms from Hyderabad, and 45 kms (approx) from Nirmal, on National Highway no.7(NH7), and is on the way to Adilabad.
Hyderabad to Nirmal 200 Kms 5 hours
Nirmal to Neredigonda 30 kms 45 minutes
Neredigonda to Kuntala 13 kms 30 minutes

Staying (or) Hotels:
waterfalls are located near to village Neredigonda, so there is no hotels to near at Kuntaala. So we can stay at Nirmal hotels. In Nirmal lot of hotels to stay in adilabad. We can plan our trip to see Waterfalls in the months of July, August, September and October. We enjoy the full of water flow of rain water in those months.
